Located in Seattle’s Roosevelt neighborhood, Centerline is a mixed-use multifamily development designed to connect residents to the surrounding neighborhood and neighborhoods beyond via the Link Light Rail station located just steps away.

The interiors of the ground floor are thoughtfully designed to maximize the functionality of the in-between spaces. Three distinct entry points connect future residents to leasing and residents arriving home. Work suites are located along resident lobby circulation, each with its own personality and furniture offering in response to the diverse ways we work. A banquet perch transitions to a resource bar—providing support to remote work residents and maximizing the use of circulation. Light globes are arranged in a playful manner along the entry procession.

The lobby core, located at the “center line” of the building, flexes in use, blurring the lines between leasing, circulation, and remote workspaces. Illuminated by a skylight, resident mail services blend with huddle seating and a banquet perch—offering opportunities for ad-hoc meetings, connecting with friends, or being together alone. The leasing and residential entries are connected through a dynamic wood pattern that wraps the core of the space. A playful floor tile, radiating in scale and color from the “center line” of the building, assists with wayfinding and provides subtle cues to the connection between three entry points. The lobby integrates biophilic design strategies through the use of wood, natural stone textures, plant life, and colors found in nature—increasing resident connectivity to nature for a more productive and healthier built environment.
